Ahhhh Spring! Mothers and Nurses and Students too!
We had snow on the ground for over two months straight, I think. And with very little melting, each snowfall just added to the piles. Our mailbox is on a 3 foot high post near the street, and we could hardly see the back of it for weeks. An unusually cold and snowy winter, but we avoided some of the nasty and dangerous storms that other areas of the country suffered, so I won’t complain. Anymore.
But it’s time to celebrate spring!
And it’s time to celebrate nurses (May 6-12), because they are great and they do great and important work, and should be honored.
And it’s time to celebrate mothers (May 11), because without them, where would you be? (Fathers get their turn next month.) Where would any of us be? And they took care of us and raised us and taught us and did a billion other things to help us make it to where we are. Thank your mom, and all the moms in your life.
And it’s time to celebrate our graduates all over the world! So many have reached milestones in their lives. Congratulate them, as they celebrate one achievement and move on to the next. They are our future, and we celebrate what they have done. But we celebrate their futures too. And we adults must do what we can to help them succeed, and to make the best of that future.
And then there is Memorial Day, when we honor those who, in the distant past and even now, have served or are yet serving our country and paid terrible prices on our behalf. May we be worthy of what they have given. Remember them and honor them.
