“We share a vision—
with different eyes—
looking through a focused lens
aimed in one direction,
capturing the vision
in its perfect balance.
We peer into each others’ eyes:
We see the same convergence;
we find the same reflection.
We’re awed by love’s beneficence.”

A tribute to our best friends.
“Farewell, My Friend, Farewell”
This poem was originally written as a farewell for my brother's dog, Shawn. He was a beautiful dog—friendly, fun, caring—with every quality one could want in a great friend. He just seemed to know your mood, and he complemented it perfectly—always. A great dog, and still deeply missed.
A great way to honor your dog, or as a memorial for a friend's dog too. Makes a great and touching gift.
20 inches by 16 inches. Framed only. Matte color choices: Black or Dark Brown.
Personalization included. Personalization allows for the dog's name and years of life (e.g., 1999-2010). Sold framed, with black or light brown frame. Gold matte on oval opening. $349.99
Also available with rectangular opening, approximately 6 x 4 inches, located in similar location as shown in oval piece. $299.99
Contact me with name and birth and death years for personalization.
Framed with oval double matte opening: $349.99
Framed with rectangular double matte photo opening: $299.99
Shipping, handling and sales tax, if applicable, are extra.
Frame shown is not always available. We reserve the right to substitute a frame similar in color to that shown, or other appropriate frame.

“How could we have ever known
that a smile would bring us
to this moment?
Love has called us—
a wondrous song—
sometimes weak
and sometimes strong,
inevitably, inexorably,
to this moment.”
How Could We Have Ever Known?
This is where it all started.
I wrote this poem a few days before my own wedding many years ago. My bride-to-be had been looking for one more reading for the ceremony, and neither of us were thrilled by them. I told her I would write something for her, but she would have to wait for the ceremony to hear it. (I feared her editing!! We'd never get done.)
We asked a friend to read it at the ceremony, and he did a great job, and everyone loved it.
The piece shown here is etched in blue with a rectangular photo opening, with a bevel cut. Bevel cut opening not available. Instead, we offer an oval opening, one rectangular double matte opening, or two rectangular double matte openings. See below.
This is offered with an oval opening ($374.99*), one rectangular double matte opening ($299.99*), or two rectangular double matte openings ($329.99*). The last option allows the use of one photo of the bride and groom, and the second for a photo of the rings, or of family members, or anything you like!
Black or light brown frame. This piece can be personalized with names of bridal couple, date and place of wedding. Contact me with that information. Personalization is included in price.
Frames are subject to availability. I reserve the right to substitute frame of similar color.
*Shipping, handling and sales tax, if applicable, is extra.
Because this is an etched piece with personalization, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
Looking for a different kind of housewarming gift? It's right here!
“How We Loved Our Home”
This was originally a commissioned poem. A real estate agent asked me to write a poem for a gift for a customer who was moving, and she suggested something as a reminder of the customer's old home that they could take with them to their new home. I thought this was a great idea! Most of us love our homes, even after we leave them, and what better way to honor our new home than by putting in a photograph of our old home as a memory.
I wrote the poem, including some special language for the family, and we inserted a photo of the home (that the real estate agent had taken when showing the house) into the opening. The family loved it!
Or you can make one with your own home, perhaps with a photo of your family standing in front of it, or in a favorite room. An heirloom! And a great gift!
“This home is not a sum of parts
but all of that and more.
It became a home
when loving hearts
filled it up with memories
that were not here before.”
An etched picture poem. (The piece shown is 18 inches by 14 inches, though this was specially made.) Framed. Sold in 20 by 16 inches only, though I don't have a sample to show.
The 20 by 16 inch etched version is regularly priced at $299.99.
It is on sale for a limited time for $249.99. That's $50.00 off!
This offer includes the name of the homeowners and the address and the years that they occupied that home at no extra cost.
Contact me with information to personalize the picture poem. If you would like special text to be added in, contact me for a quote. See Commissioned Poems page. It can also be etched on a different color matte. Dark colors work best with etched text.
For etched pieces, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
A beautiful way to remember a beautiful day!
“Learning To Fly”
This version is written to a daughter from the mother, as in the mother hawk. Your daughter will look beautiful and scholarly in this piece! But the text can be modified so that it is suitable for a son, and it can be modified so that it is from both parents, or just the father hawk. I hope that makes sense!
Shown here: etched on charcoal matte, with double matte oval. 20 inches by 16.
“Today I watched a happy hawk
prepare to leave her nest.
Eagerly she made her walk:
now begins the test.”
“Learn from those who love to learn
and not from those who must.
Knowledge gained seeks return:
Wisdom is a sacred trust.”
Because it is etched, this piece can be personalized with the graduate’s name, school name, and year of graduation. It works for high school or college graduates. It can also be ordered in other darker colors.
As shown: $374.99. A dark color matte works best to show text. Text will appear beige or tan. The oval is very expensive, and as such, I am going to offer this piece with an option of using a rectangular double matted photo opening, with a further option of a second double matted rectangular photo opening. The price for 20 x 16 picture poem with a single rectangular opening (4 inches by 6 inches) will be $299.99. For a second photo opening, add $30.00, for a total of $329.99. Shipping, handling and sales tax, if applicable, are extra.
Poem can be etched on black, dark brown, dark blue, red, green or other dark colors. We are no longer offering charcoal. A brown or black frame is included, though we cannot guarantee that the frame shown will be available. We will provide a similar color frame.
The etched piece must be special ordered as these are custom pieces. Contact me. Email Name of student, school name and year of graduation for personalization. Also, be sure to let me know if you want the text to reflect that it is from mom, or dad, or both by making your selection in the boxes below.
Personalization is included at no further cost.
Also available in 20 by 16 print version, and 10 by 8 print version in various colors. Click here to see printed pieces.
A picture poem to honor the life of a loved one.
“Mourn Me Not For I Live On”
“Mourn me not for I live on;
there are places still to go.
I've been blessed so many ways
and ways I don't yet know.
Life has changed but is not gone—
mourn me not for I live on.”
This poem was originally commissioned by the family of a much loved and respected father/grandfather, and we included some special text in it to commemorate the fact that he was a huge college basketball fan. The family loved it, and I was told that it was enjoyed by everyone who saw it at the memorial service. I enjoy writing these memorials because it enables me to learn about the interesting lives that so many people have led.
This is an etched piece, 20 inches by 16 inches, framed and double matted. The photo opening is 5 inches by 7 inches. This is shown in dark brown matte with gold matte around the photograph, with a black frame.
I can write one for your loved one (see Commissioned Poems*), or we can use the text from this one, and we can have it etched for you. You need only insert the photograph of your choice. It can be ordered in other matte colors, but since it is etched, dark colors work best. The text will appear beige or tan.
Priced at $299.99. Includes personalization with name and years of life. You will need to email your loved one's name and years of life to me so these can be etched. Contact me with information and correct spelling. A unique way to celebrate your loved one's life.
Shipping, handling and sales tax are extra.
Disclaimer: Despite appearances to the contrary, I am not dead yet! Yes, that's me in the middle of the matte, but, as on other pieces, I am a cheap model!
*(Note: a Commissioned Poem will be higher in price than this one. Sorry. I felt it only fair to warn you.)
For etched pieces, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
“Not so strange to love again,
for who makes such a rule?
Hearts seek hearts to be fulfilled:
a wedding but the jewel.”
So Be Still Autumnal Days
A love and wedding poem for the mature couple. Love isn’t just for the young. This poem celebrates the love of those who’ve found it again a bit later on in life.
“So be still autumnal days; / your time is not at hand. / We have within us lovers’ strength, / youth renewed, at our command.”
Available in 20 x 16 inches in dark gold and silver, both with black text. Each has white matte around 5 x 7 inch photograph opening. (Note: The silver piece was hard to photograph because of reflection off the matte. It looks very cool in real life! I admit I need to learn more about photography!)
Also available in 10 x 8 inches, in silver, cream, light gold and dark gold, all with black text.
Light brown or black frames.
Or you can choose to order without a frame (No Frame). Note: Pieces shown in gallery are all framed. Unframed mattes are not shown, but you get the idea from the framed pictures. When you make your selections for a new framed piece, one of the same matte colored pieces will pop up in the gallery, but you will not receive the frame—you will get the matte only. If any questions, contact me.
20 x 16 inches in dark gold matte with white photo matte (5 x 7 inches), black text. Also available in silver matte with white photo matte (5 x 7 inches), black text. Also available in cream matte, which is not presently cut, and thus has no matte around photo opening. We are going to use gold for the inner matte if you order the 20×16 cream colored picture poem. Just give us a little extra time for delivery.
Photo opening will be 5 x 7 inches.

An etched poem of gratitude to a donor and the donor's family.
So Hope Will Live
This poem is written from the perspective of an organ recipient directed to an organ donor and his or her family. The donor's family has very recently undergone a terrible loss of their loved one, and their pain is still very recent and very raw, and organ recipients know this and appreciate that they have benefited from the donation of the organ(s) of someone whose death has sadly impacted their own loved ones while the gift of the organ(s) is intended to help someone else live.
“Know that I am grateful
for the life you gave to me.
May my life bring comfort
from the pain that hurts you so:
we are strangers now a family,
wherever we may go.
And may the life that lives in me
shine the light so all can see
that life goes on, ironically,
when we choose to donate life,
so hope will live, eternally.”
I am showing this with an oval opening, and my own photo appears there as a sample only.* For reasons stated below, this picture poem will be available only with a rectangular photo opening and not an oval opening. The oval matte around the photo adds a large cost to the piece, and I would prefer to make these a bit more affordable.
And I hope that these poems encourage people to consider being an organ donor. I also hope the poems offer hope, solace and comfort to those needing an organ and to those families whose loved one has given an organ.
You can insert the organ recipient's photo, or the donor's photo can be inserted. If you wish, we can cut two openings to allow you to insert a photo of each for an additional $30.00. And we will etch the names of the donor and the recipient too.
I also thank those health care workers with the expertise and the caring to be able to perform organ transplant surgery, on both the donor and the recipient, so others may live. Those health care workers deserve our gratitude.
This etched piece is 20 x 16 inches, framed.
Offered with a gold colored matte around a rectangular photo opening, on black (not charcoal) matte.
With One Photo Opening: $279.99 Add $30.00 for a second photo opening with double matte.*
Includes personalization. Contact me with the correct spelling of the name or names.
Includes a black or light brown frame, though it will not be the frame shown in the website as that frame is no longer available.
*Shipping, handling and Illinois sales tax (if applicable) are extra.
For etched pieces, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Dedicated to the Families of Organ Donors
The Legacy
A poem written from the perspective of an organ donor to his or her family.
“I didn't mean to leave so soon;
so much was left undone.
We always think that later's there:
it comes with every sun . . .
“I'm grateful I can help someone:
I've left a legacy
so someone else can yet live on
with some help from me . . .
“I hope that you find comfort
in my memory:
The work I do helps someone live—
my greatest legacy.”
This poem is 20 x 16 inches, etched, in a frame. It is here shown in charcoal matte with an oval opening. But, in order to make it a bit more affordable, it will be sold with a rectangular double matte opening only, with black matte. (In other words, the oval opening is not available. I don't have photos in rectangular openings to show, but you can see those on other etched pieces in the “Weddings and Love” category.) This piece can be ordered with two rectangular openings. One can be used for a photograph of the donor, and one for a photograph of the donor's family, or perhaps for a photograph of the recipient. You may insert whatever photo(s) you desire.
Personalization included. Black or Light Brown Frame included. Contact me with the name or names to be included. Please be sure the spelling of the name(s) is correct. We reserve the right to substitute frames of similar color. Frame shown above is not available.
One rectangular double matte: $279.99 To add a second rectangular double matte, add $30.00.
Shipping, handling and sales tax, if applicable, are extra.
For etched pieces, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
Disclaimer: I have used my photograph in the samples here because I am a cheap model. I have not yet been an organ donor nor an organ recipient, but I am registered, because I know that it is important.
Be an organ donor. Donate life.

“How do we measure the times of our lives . . .”
The Loves of Our Lives
This is a special anniversary gift. Personal. For any mature couple with children. This poem celebrates mature love that has lasted through life's joys and tribulations. Insert your favorite photograph, or even your wedding photo. We can also add an extra rectangular opening and you can include a wedding photo and a more recent photo.
Of course, it can be a gift for a birthday or Christmas, or just because. A great way to celebrate love that has lasted.
It could also be a gift from parents to children, with a photo of everyone included. You could even order an extra opening for a second photograph, though we might need to do this in a larger size. Contact me if you wish to discuss this.
“How do we treasure the loves of our lives?
Our choice, we know, was so very right,
and we moved onward
building a life,
and lives of our children,
that love in return.
And so we moved forward,
relentlessly forward,
treasuring those lives, knowing so well
that the love that we've lived
is so fairly measured
by the love that we see
in the hearts of our children.”
20 inches by 16 inches.
$349.95* Framed, etched, with oval gold matte color, and personalized. Contact me to order. Black matte. The matte shown in the photo is not available.
I will also make this available with one rectangular photo opening, double matted with gold matte, on a black matte, for $299.99. If you would like a second photo opening, also double matted, to show a second picture (perhaps with the entire family) this could be done. Add $30.00. However, be aware that there may not be much space for two large photos.
*Shipping, handling and sales tax, if applicable, are extra.
For etched pieces, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
One of my favorites!
A Thousand Dreams
“I have dreamed a thousand dreams,
and you are there in every one.”
A very nice love poem. It can be read in the ceremony if you want, but only if you purchase an etched or printed version, or if you obtain permission to use it.
(See Commissioned Poems, under Permission or Allowance to Use . . .).
Put engagement photo in the opening, then replace when wedding photos are available.
You can even put it on an easel so guests can read it on the way in to the church or reception. A classy touch, I think! The poem can be etched on other matte colors too!
You can choose one photo opening, or you can choose to have two. ($30.00 additional) You can put a photo of your rings in the second photo opening, or a family photo, or anything you like.
Choice of matte colors: Black, Dark Gold or Orange. Darker colors work best because the etched text appears tan or beige on the matting.
Choice of light brown or black frame.
This piece comes personalized, so let me know the names of the bride and groom, the date of the wedding, and even the name of the church or city in which the wedding was held. Included in price. Contact me with that information and with correct spellings!
Shipping, handling and sales tax, if applicable, are extra.
For etched pieces, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
